Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh
Sukhna Lake is a serene man-made reservoir located at the foothills of the Shivalik Hills in Chandigarh, India. Created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, this picturesque lake was envisioned by the city’s chief architect, Le Corbusier, as a peaceful retreat for residents and visitors.

Spread over nearly 40 acres, this extraordinary sculpture garden was secretly started in 1957 by Nek Chand, a government official who transformed discarded materials into stunning works of art.
The garden features a maze of pathways, courtyards, waterfalls, and thousands of sculptures made from broken bangles, tiles, ceramics, pipes, bottles, and other recycled items. The figures—depicting dancers, animals, villagers, and cultural scenes—reflect traditional Indian life and creativity.
Divided into different phases, the Rock Garden offers visitors a fascinating journey through narrow passages, arches, and open-air galleries. The sound of flowing water and the artistic arrangement of sculptures create a magical and almost surreal atmosphere.
